the New carolinas film collective was founded in april 2023 in an effort to nourish the carolina film community by organizing publicly-offered workshops, networking opportunities, screenings, and more.
WE aim to grow the carolina film scene from the indie level and up, while Maintaining a safe space for filmmakers and artists of all experience levels.

meet the Organizers
Blake Kinsey
Blake Kinsey is a Writer, Director, Producer and avid tea-drinker hailing originally from the beautiful mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. In 2022 he completed a BFA degree in Film & Television Production at Western Carolina University.
His work has since been recognized at the Rome International Film Festival (RIFF), Raleigh Film & Art Festival, Reedy Reels: The Greenville Festival, and Stranger Days Independent Film Festival. He now lives in Durham, NC where he runs his company, Back Porch Films, producing projects both in the artistic & client space.
Blake is also the co-founder of the New Carolinas Film Collective, an initiative meant to stimulate local filmmaking in the Triangle region of North Carolina through events, workshops & career-boosting opportunities.

Austin Pigza
Austin Pigza is an Actor, Voiceover Artist, Producer, Director, and Editor raised in Charlotte, NC. Currently a resident of Bull City, he’s looking to further both his personal career in film and indeed the state of film in NC generally with an emphasis on community building and artistic integrity.
Projects he’s worked on as a performer have been distributed globally, featured in film festivals across the Carolinas, shown in regional primetime commercial slots like the Super Bowl, and uploaded to large YouTube Channels. Other projects he’s worked on as crew locally have been released for various companies from Google, ESPN, Fidelity, and more.
As a co-founder of the New Carolinas Film Collective, Austin hopes to grow the NC film scene into the strong, diverse, professional, and creative powerhouse it has the potential to be on a national scale after some state-wide setbacks of the not-so-distant past.
